This 42 mm timepiece is made primarily from Tungsten Carbide, an ultra-dense, wear-resistant material rarely seen in watchmaking due to its machining challenges. Paired with tantalum accents, the case and bracelet reflect a commitment to pushing material boundaries while preserving an understated design. Developed with Les Boîtiers de Genève, F.P. Journe’s in-house case manufacturer, the exterior’s complex geometry and hybrid finishes are the result of years of precision engineering and metallurgical mastery.
At the heart of the Chronomètre Furtif is the new Calibre 1522, a hand-wound movement in 18K rose gold. This mechanical calibre features an in-line geartrain—an internal first for the brand—offering central hours, minutes, and seconds with a 56-hour power reserve. It also incorporates a moonphase at 6 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 12. All components are executed to the highest standards, with refined traditional techniques applied throughout the manufacturing process. The anthracite grey Grand Feu enamel dial, produced by Les Cadraniers de Genève, maintains the watch’s discreet character.
