The Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold Cliff Grey Edition is inspired by the rugged coastline of Cornwall, birthplace of John Arnold and starting point for many of His Majesty’s ships. The dial, in a cool gray shade, features a textured Stellar Rays finish that plays with the light, mimicking the shifting tones of sea cliffs in the sun. At its center is one of the largest moonphase displays in watchmaking, set against a starry sky dotted with hand-painted constellations: Ursa Major and Cassiopeia. Just 28 pieces exist, each one capturing a sense of maritime history and celestial navigation.
The moon disc is made from mother-of-pearl, overlaid with Super-LumiNova for a glowing appearance. Its deep blue backdrop is finished with a fine grain and PVD treatment, enhancing the sense of depth and night-sky drama. Slim red gold lugs and a thin bezel open up the dial as much as possible, making space for the full display of the moon and stars. The result is a watch that feels both grounded in tradition and full of visual movement, like watching the sky change above the ocean.
Inside, the manually wound A&S1512 movement powers the moonphase with near-astronomical precision. It will stay accurate for 122 years before needing a one-day correction. It’s entirely developed and assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, runs at 3 Hz, and offers a 90-hour power reserve. A secondary moonphase on the back makes setting quick and easy. Technically refined and visually poetic, this is Arnold & Son at its best.
