Sky-Dweller beauty
This watch is equipped with a particularly innovative annual calendar called Saros. Its design was inspired by the astronomical phenomenon of the same name. The Greek term “Saros” has been used since antiquity and designates an approximately 18-year cycle of alignment patterns between the Sun, the Earth and the Moon, at the end of which they are at the same position in relation to one another.

Sky-Dweler dial
Global travellers can read the local time via centre hands and the reference time – the time at home for example – via a rotating off-centre disc on the dial. An inverted red triangle points to the wearer’s chosen reference time.

Sky-Dweller dial display
The Saros annual calendar automatically differentiates between 30-day and 31-day months, and requires only one date adjustment a year, when the month changes from February – which has only 28 or 29 days – to March.

The instantaneous date change is linked to local time. Therefore, the date displayed in the aperture is always the current date in the wearer’s local time zone, removing the need to set the date separately when the time zone changes.

Sky-Dweller Saros
The Saros annual calendar is an engineering masterpiece: it uses only four gear wheels and two gear ratios in addition to the traditional Rolex instantaneous date calendar. This sheer simplicity ensures the reliability of the system.

Sky-Dweller ring command
The Sky-Dweller’s fluted, rotatable bezel is much more than an aesthetic feature. It allows the wearer to select the functions to be set – date, month, local time or reference time – by simply turning the bezel. Its slightly larger and deeper fluting differs from the one manufactured for other Rolex watches, and offers an excellent grip when setting the Sky-Dweller.

Sky-Dweller winding crown
Intuitive and simple to use, the Ring Command system is a mechanism of interaction between the rotatable bezel, the winding crown and the movement, which allows the wearer to select and set the watch’s functions easily. It consists of around 50 components, demanding state-of-the-art watchmaking and micromechanical expertise.

Calibre 9001
The Sky-Dweller is equipped with calibre 9001, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Introduced in 2012, it is one of the most complex calibres ever created by Rolex engineers and watchmakers.

Superlative Chronometer
Like all Rolex watches, each Sky-Dweller is certified as a Superlative Chronometer. This exclusive designation attests that it has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories and according to its own criteria. The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that comes with every Rolex watch and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.
