Frederique Constant has partnered with the French artist seconde/seconde/, also known as Romaric André, for two limited-edition timepieces. In a humorous and unconventional way, they have released two Slimline Moonphase Date Manufacture watches to celebrate the brand’s manual assembly prowess. The first is a steel edition of 100 pieces, while the second is limited to just 10 pieces and features rose gold tone crown and dial elements.
André is recognized for his satirical and horological work, often incorporating playful elements into vintage watches and now collaborating with esteemed brands. His first project with Frederique Constant sought to address the brand’s hand-assembly strength, often overshadowed by the pursuit of perfection in watchmaking.
The limited editions appear traditional at first glance, with a polished stainless steel case and a matt silver dial. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that the hour markers and typography on the dial are intentionally irregular to underscore the human touch in their assembly.
The back of the watch features a message that encapsulates their collaboration’s spirit, along with a view of the FC-705 in-house automatic calibre, showcasing the meticulous detail and craftsmanship inherent in Frederique Constant watches.
