URWERK has unveiled the UR-100V Time and Culture III, a unique piece created in partnership with the David Kakabadze studio in Tbilisi, Georgia. This latest edition in the “Time and Culture” series shifts from Native American and Mesopotamian roots to the rich traditions of Georgian Orthodoxy, where art, faith, and history have long been intertwined. Through this collaboration, URWERK continues its exploration of how different cultures have understood and represented time.
The watch itself is a miniature artwork in yellow gold, made using 24K cloisonné enamel and delicate miniature painting. It took over three years to complete, involving 19 different enamel colours and 16 firings at 750°C. The design is based on a zodiac fresco from the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a key site in Georgian cultural heritage. It also draws from the legend of Sidonia, who died holding Christ’s robe, and whose grave became the foundation of Georgia’s first church, built by King Mirian III in the 4th century.
At the centre of the dial, Christ is surrounded by 12 celestial symbols—representing months, hours, and zodiac signs. Inside, the UR-100V is powered by the UR 12.01 caliber and features URWERK’s signature wandering hour satellite display. This watch is a reflection on time, belief, and the stories that endure across generations.
